#1. Affiliate Marketing

Most companies outsource some level of their marketing strategy to affiliates who then take steps to market the products, services, or company as a whole. Being an affiliates marketer makes you an extension of the company’s marketing team. After successfully marketing the products online the company would then reward a certain percentage of commission for each product but by the customers or consumers who were brought by your own marketing efforts

Getting started

  1. Decide on the type of online product you want to market. You should choose from the domain in which you are well conversant with. For example, if you are a musician you should go for a product related to music. There are lots of products available in every domain you just need to focus on the one that is suitable for you
  2. Choose a product that pays you at least 50% commission on each sale. Check out these websites to find products: clickbank.com, shareasale.com, jvzoo.com
  3. Get your custom affiliate link created by the vendor and start promoting it. Most product website handles affiliate link generation and payouts so you don’t need to worry about how you’ll get your commission.
  4. Try promoting your affiliate link on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

#2. Freelancing

You would have the benefit of being able to choose your clients as well as flexible working hours. How to Choose The Best Blogging Platform – 5 keys to note down.

How to Choose The Best Blogging Platform – 5 keys to note down.

Here’s a short blog post to help you with what to look out for while deciding on a blogging platform, in our next post we will be comparing some of the popular blogging platform on the web today – wordpress, joomla, blogspot(Blogger), Tumblr and others.

Below are some categories to you can use judge the blogging platform:

  1. Beginner-friendliness – Often Beginners require a blogging solution that is easy to set up, manage and doesn’t need coding skills to run. Proper documentation and support have to be made available for the blogger so they can easily find support when they run into trouble.
  2. Costs – cost is an indispensable factor. It’s not only important that your blogging platform of choice fits within your budget but what you also get for your money. A free offer is worth nothing if it doesn’t do what you need.
  3. Features and extendability – A good blogging platform needs to be able to accommodate for future changes. Over time, your needs and requirements for your site will change. You might want to modify or overhaul the design, add features or make other drastic changes.
  4. Monetization – With the goal of eventually earning money with your website in mind its wise you choose a platform that enables you to do that in a way that works for you.
  5. Maintenance – This is an important point to note. You should be able to answer the following questions: How much hands-on work does your blogging solution need? Does it take care of most of the activities and features for you or do you have to do everything by hand? This will have a serious impact on your workflow.

There are many candidates out there to consider when it comes to looking for the best blogging platform. Each comes with its own pros and cons. Basically, there are three varieties: self-hosted blogging platforms, hosted blog sites and site builders that also have blogging capabilities.

Why You Should Not Create a Blog on a Free Platform Such as Blogger, Tumblr, WordPress

It’s true, you can create your blog free. But the free account is very limited. For example, your blog is hosted on a subdomain, it’ll look boring, and the address will look somewhat childish, consider a web address like YourBlogName.WordPress.com, YourBlogName.Blogspot.com or YourBlogName.Tumblr.com this diminishes your blog credibility.

There are some serious flaws in free options you need to know about:

  1. Monetization

If you own a free blog on WordPress or Blogger, where you have a ‘.wordpress’,’.blogspot’ as part of your domain name, it’s not possible (at least for beginners) to make money with your blog via advertisements or Adsense. What’s worse is that your blog will display advertisements by WordAds but the income will not go to you. Your blog is free because advertisements are paying for it. However, if you manage to get about 25,000 page views a month, you can try applying for WordAds but you only keep 50% of the revenue.

Again people tends to trust websites with a custom domain – example will be just Yourname.com, it makes your website visitors take you more seriously and ready to do business with you.

  1. Control and Ownership

Unlike a self-hosted WordPress blog where all of the content on it belongs to you and others can’t tell you whether you can or cannot post certain content. You have so much more freedom as compared to a free WordPress blog. For free blog, Control and Ownership of the blog isn’t your at the end of the day, if it was, why is it that they control the ads placed on your blog and whether you can or cannot use Google Adsense or other ads for that matter? And If you happen to post content that are in violation of their standards, they can shut your blog down and this can happen anytime (it has happened before).

  1. Limited Customization

On a free platform you can’t use all the free plugins or themes. You can’t even use custom themes to really make your blog stand out. Although free blogging platforms like blogger.com and WordPress.com comes with certain free themes which are popular, but the rest of the themes are premium themes which might cost you at least $50+ or more. If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog, you can install hundreds of themes that are free of charge and it gives you a better option in picking the layout for your blog.

It also lacks many important plugins that can improve the functionality of your site and the limited design features makes your blog look like “me-too versions” of every other Blogger blog.

  1. Limitations in space – Free space of only 3GB. For few posts, images, and perhaps videos but as your content grows you will find that it’s just not enough.

In short, don’t create a free blog, especially if you’re serious about starting a blog and you are a business or a blogger that wants to make money from your site. Later migrating to a better option from a free blogging platform can be very time consuming and tricky.

Instead, create a self-hosted WordPress blog where you don’t have any limitations. Plus, you’ll be able to use your own (professional) domain name.
